Alloy Wire retains carbon neutral status

Alloy Wire retains carbon neutral status

Alloy Wire International (AWI) is thrilled to report that it has once again been recognised as a carbon neutral business, committing further to its pledge to become a more sustainable business that works towards a greener future.

After partnering with Carbon Neutral Britain to measure and offset its carbon footprint, AWI has now been certified as a Carbon Neutral Business for a 12-month period. As part of its Wired For Good campaign that AWI is undertaking, all manufacturing, deliveries and even employee commuting emissions will need to be offset. To achieve this, AWI partnered with several specialist organisations, with the focus on woodland creation, solar/wind and sustainability projects.

As a result, 797.02 tonnes CO₂ emissions were offset via the Climate Fund™ Portfolio of verified carbon offsetting projects around the world.

Alloy Wire’s ambition was to measure and offset the total company emissions – this was measured by working alongside Carbon Neutral Britain. Because of AWI’s status as a worldwide supplier of wire, bars and wire rope, it was concluded that the main emissions came from energy consumption and delivering products to customers worldwide.

Carbon Neutral Britain is an organisation that provides 100% verified carbon credits and full transparency, with every process regulated, verified and third party audited. This has been done following calculations using the ISO 14064 and GHG Protocol Emissions Standard principles of relevance, completeness, consistency, transparency and accuracy.

Tom Mander, Managing Director

Tom Mander, Managing Director, said: “To attain our carbon neutral status once again is a fantastic achievement. As part of our Wired For Good campaign, partnering with Carbon Neutral Britain was hugely important. It means we have been kept up-to-date on our carbon emissions, which has allowed us to accurately measure our impact on the environment and therefore take efforts to reduce our carbon production.”
